from the City of Knoxville’s Office of Neighborhoods

If your organization gets involved in helping elderly and disabled neighbors, here is a program that will help you help them.

The Knoxville Knox County Community Action Committee — better known as CAC — operates a program called Volunteer Assisted Transportation (VAT).

VAT uses volunteers to provide transportation to elderly and disabled persons at low cost. Transportation can be scheduled on either an individual or group basis. Group trips are primarily geared towards low-income groups. For more, visit the website  or look for VAT on Facebook.

Someone from VAT is available to speak to your neighborhood meeting about these services as well as opportunities to volunteer. Contact Matthew Gabb at matthew.gabb@cactrans.org or call 865-673-5001.
