Don’t miss your chance to see the Vine Middle Magnet Performing Arts Academy bring the classic story of Orphan Annie to life. Over 50 actors are hard at work putting this show together for audiences of all ages to enjoy.

Based on the popular Broadway musical, “Annie Jr.,” tells the story of a spunky, Depression-era orphan who is determined to find her parents, who abandoned her on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil plans, befriends President Franklin Roosevelt and finds a new family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

Tamera Kunselman, Musical Theater director of Annie Jr. is thrilled to bring this delightful production to the Vine Auditorium. “With such a diverse and talented group of actors, audiences are sure to be entertained. These students bring their characters to life with such energy it’s amazing to watch them onstage! The show has been double cast, allowing students of all performance levels to participate, and allowing most to fill more than one role within the two public performances. It has been such a joy to watch students combine their original creativity in singing and dancing to bring a production of its kind to the middle school stage. Students who once were reluctant to perform have overcome stage fright and developed acting abilities to confidently present their characters before live audiences. The production has also opened doors for family and community engagement. Numerous parents, faculty, staff, community members, and professional actors and musicians have been involved, many of which have devoted countless hours in supporting the production of this musical.” says Kunselman.
Annie Jr. plays Thursday, April 18th and Friday, April 19th at the Vine Middle Auditorium, 1807 Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave. at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door for $5 each.
