The Knoxville Focus is extraordinarily proud to have former congressman Jimmy Duncan as a regular columnist and would like to congratulate him on his book, “From Batboy to Congressman – Thirty Years in the US House.”

For thirty years, Jimmy was the Second District’s congressman, following in the footsteps of his father, Congressman John J. Duncan Sr., who served for better than 20 years.  Both Duncans stressed service to the people during their time in Congress.

Jimmy doesn’t just write a column about politics and his thoughts, but also tells readers some incredible stories gleaned throughout his lifetime as the son of a mayor of Knoxville, his time as a judge of the Knox County Criminal Court, and his own time as our congressman.  There’s nobody in the state of Tennessee who can match those experiences.

Published by the UT Press, the book contains 203 vignettes about his work locally and in Washington, D.C.  The book has both humorous and serious stories about many Tennessee political figures, members of Congress and all the presidents under whom Congressman Duncan served.

There will be a book signing Saturday, December 4, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Long’s Drug Store on Kingston Pike. The book will be for sale at a total discounted price of $20.00, which covers the sales tax.

We are very proud to congratulate Jimmy Duncan on his new book, “From Batboy to Congressman – Thirty Years in the US House!” I can’t wait to get my signed copy because I know it will be a great read.
