By Pete Gawda
Spencer Long, principal of Halls High School, has been named the 2025 Tennessee Principal of the Year by the National Association of Secondary Principals.
Long was honored at the Thursday, October 2, meeting of the Knox County School Board when state Representative Michele Carringer presented Hall with a proclamation from the Tennessee House of Representatives honoring his achievement. The proclamation stated that Long “has distinguished himself as a professional of the greatest dedication, ability and integrity.”
The proclamation goes on to describe Long as, “a compassionate administrator who works assiduously to motivate his students, teachers and staff to reach their full potential as scholars, professionals and citizens.”
As a coincidence, Long is an alumnus of Halls High School. Before becoming principal at Halls Long served as science teacher, assistant football coach, baseball coach, athletic director and assistant principal. He is currently serving as vice president of Knox County Association of Secondary Principals. In 2023, Long was named the Halls Business and Professional Man of the Year.
