State Studies Rejection of Federal Education Funds
The Tennessee General Assembly is beginning to seriously explore the possibility of rejecting federal money for education. Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally and Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton named a 10-member task force to look into whether it is practical and possible for Tennessee to reject federal education dollars. The thought behind the move is to determine whether or not Tennessee can provide similar services without taking the federal money that obligates a state to follow the mandates and restrictions imposed by the federal government.
Speaker Sexton says the task force will help to ascertain just how much autonomy Tennessee has in the education of the state’s children.
Carville Rips Far Left
“I find the left to be just annoying. The western far left is habitually the most stupid, naïve people you can imagine. They come up with these really goofy constructs and it’s all about feeling good about yourself.” No, it wasn’t Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence or Donald Trump who said that. It was James Carville who said it. Yes, James Carville, the famed Democrat political strategist who made the statement on a recent podcast with Bill Maher, another Democrat who is critical of the Left. Maher agreed with Carville and said, “If your feelings are hurt, that’s more important than free speech.”
Maher was mocking the idea of “pregnant men,” while Carville said he found the Leftists “annoying and silly.” Carville explained how the far left hijacked the word “woke” and changed its original meaning.
“What happened is, overeducated, coastal White people got ahold of the word and like they do with everything else, they completely ****** it up and **** everybody in the country off,” Carville said. “If we could just get the humanities faculty at Amherst [College] to shut the **** up, we’d be a lot better off.”
Carville believes the Left is dragging the Democrat party down while only 10% of the people identify as “progressives.”
When Maher pointed out Trump is gaining more support from minorities, Carville explained it is because of the attitude of elitism found inside the Democrat party that turns off people. “There is a certain coastal arrogance in this country, and people feel it. You got all these preachy people telling you what you should do,” Carville said.
Tougher Sentences Needed For Shoplifting And Looting
Shoplifting in this country is out of control. Big chains are closing stores in Blue cities because the lawlessness makes it infeasible for them to operate in those areas. Retailers posted more than $112 billion in crime losses in 2022. That’s an increase of approximately 19% over 2021. 28% of businesses reported in a survey taken by the National Retail Federation reported having closed locations due to crime. Some 177 retail brands were surveyed and 88% of those reported they believed the shoplifters had or were becoming more violent; in some instances, retailers reported the shoplifters were becoming much more violent in 2022 than they had been in 2023. The losses to the economy and consumers are staggering in organized looting and theft. Shoplifting is not at all a “victimless crime.” Quite the contrary, as consumers pay higher prices for products to cover the cost of shoplifting. Mob looting is a crime and dangerous to the safety of shoppers and store employees. The thefts are becoming even more common due to many retailers of having changed their store policies to not allowing employees to engage with the thieves, prioritizing employee safety. While likely a wise policy, it has only emboldened the thieves.
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Oakland all in Gavin Newsom’s wonderful California, have become cesspools of organized looting and savagery, reporting the most crime in the 2022. Stores in New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, and Seattle are seeing a big rise in organized looting and shoplifting. Stores are beginning to shutter locations in those areas where the laws are not enforced. Chicago’s new socialist mayor, Brandon Johnson, seems surprised grocery stores are closing in areas where they have been decimated by shoplifting. A once great city that has now become a dung heap of high crime and higher taxes, Johnson seems to be surprised businesses would not choose to continue to operate with heavy losses. The mayor is saying neighborhoods deserve their own grocery store and if true, he could simply refuse to tolerate shoplifting. Instead, he proposes the City of Chicago go into the grocery store business.
The survey also revealed more valuable items were being consistently looted and shoplifted in those cities where the felony threshold for thefts had been raised. Who could have foreseen that happening? Apparently nobody in government in deep Blue cities.
Illegal Immigration Out Of Control
The mayors of El Paso and Eagle Pass, Texas, both Democrats, are saying their communities are coming to a breaking point due to the open border policies of Joe Biden. More than 1.8 million illegal aliens have entered our country from the southern border between October 2022 and August 2023, according to federal data. In August alone more than 181,000 illegal aliens came across the border.
Tech titan Elon Musk has infuriated the Left by livestreaming on X (Twitter)his own trip to the southern border. Announcing viewers would see what he sees, Musk plopped a cowboy hat on his head and spoke with Texas congressman Tony Gonzales who confirmed what most rational people already know, the problem is out of control and getting worse. Musk reminded viewers he is very “pro immigrant” being one himself, but stated there needed to be a more intelligent policy that welcomed those folks who are both honest and hardworking, while keeping criminals, rapists, and undesirables from entering the country. Musk also pointed out one inescapable conclusion if the flow of illegals continues without restraint: the eventual breakage of social services in this country.
“We actually do need a wall and we need to require people to have some shred of evidence to claim asylum to enter, as everyone is doing that,” Musk said. “It’s a hack that you can literally Google to know exactly what to say! Will find out more when I visit Eagle Pass maybe as soon as tomorrow,” told viewers.
It really is as simple as that.
