Obama Presidential Library Hurts Minority Businesses
Just how much Democrat/Socialist love minorities can be summed up in the Tower of Obama being built in Chicago. Officially, it is the presidential library of Barack Obama, although it more closely resembles a modern-day Tower of Babel. By 2021, the cost of Obama’s monument to himself had exceeded $830 million. The grand opening was to occur last Friday, and the cost has almost certainly surpassed a billion dollars. Minority contractors were used to construct the Tower of Obama, and news reports indicate some of them have been left holding the financial bag. The massive tower and its nearly 20-acre campus on the south side of Chicago were to have their opening, while subcontractors have yet to be paid. In fact, some of the subcontractors, who are minority-owned businesses, are owed so much money that they face financial ruin without being paid soon. Several construction firms have claimed they have suffered financial losses ranging from hundreds of thousands of dollars to tens of millions. One small business, Adams Plumbing, is well in the red, being owed more than $4 million. Local taxpayers, in a city increasingly teetering on the edge of bankruptcy under a mayor more Marxist than socialist, will be stuck with millions of dollars in costs associated with the Tower of Obama, which some critics are already labeling “the ugliest building in Chicago.” Is anybody surprised?
Newsoms Under Federal Investigation
Journalist Susan Crabtree has done some terrific reporting, as usual. An excellent reporter on all things California, Crabtree has published a new article on the brewing trouble of Governor Gavin Newsom and his wife, Jennifer Seibel Newsom. Dana Williamson, Governor Newsom’s ex-chief of staff, pleaded guilty a month ago to three felonies involving campaign finance as well as evasion of federal income taxes. Crabtree reported Newsom announced, “We’ve all got to be held to the letter of the law.”
Newsom has apparently changed his mind and is singing a different tune these days when agents began making inquiries to his friends and associates, asking some very difficult questions. Governor Newsom quickly posted a video to social media, bawling that he was the victim of the weaponization of the law by President Trump. Of course, the most notable victim of the weaponization of lawfare in the United States is Donald Trump. People like Gavin Newsom would repeat the same mantra over and over again: “No one is above the law.” Except, of course, themselves. As Susan Crabtree’s well-researched article indicates, there are some very curious things occurring in California aside from the fact that they’ve legalized what would be considered voter fraud in their system. California has also legalized what in many states would be either considered or very close to “pay to play,” a BIG no-no in politics and government.
According to Newsom, Trump is “coming after” him because he’s “thinking about” running for president. Wow, and nobody thought Trump was running for president between 2020 and 2024! Yet, Newsom ignores the fact that the investigation apparently began under the Biden administration. It was Joe Biden’s Department of Justice that began the probe, which concluded with the felony pleas by his former chief of staff. The investigation into Mrs. Newsom’s taxes began in California, not Washington, D.C.
Susan Crabtree is the co-author of the book “Fool’s Gold,” which documents the flow of money into the coffers of Jennifer Seibel Newsom’s non-profit ventures, which are pretty profitable for her personally. According to “Fool’s Gold,” Mrs. Newsom’s non-profit Representation Project paid her $1.5 million in salary between the years 2013 – 2021, as well as pouring $1.6 million into the California First Lady’s personal production company, Girls Club Entertainment, since 2012. Crabtree and her co-author documented several corporations and businesses that either won contracts with the state or were pursuing state business which donated “five and six-figure” sums to Mrs. Newsom’s charity. Jen Newsom’s production company has made a total of four films, which have played in some 5,000 classrooms across the country. All of them “discuss social privilege, oppression and gender equality.” Some of the footage naturally includes her husband, the governor, and some critics have been unkind enough to say it resembles campaign ads rather than documentary films.
One especially generous entity providing cash for Mrs. Newsom’s projects is Pacific Gas & Electric, the corporate giant and utility company which was so giving that it was listed as an associate producer on two of Newsom’s films.
After squalling his defiance of Trump, Gavin Newsom immediately sent out a fundraising appeal.
Hypocrisy Rampant In Democratic Party
In this topsy-turvy world, it is interesting to note that the people who call everyone else a Nazi are also those who support a guy for the US Senate who, until he was caught, proudly wore the “Totenkopf” tattoo, the “death’s head” favored by the dreaded Nazi SS. The same people who once cried women must be believed now ignore the growing list of women who have accused Graham Platner of abuse.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is currently being accused by the DOJ of cooking its books and funneling $3 million to groups and individuals, such as an affiliate of the Aryan Nation; to the former chairman of the National Alliance; a $73,000 payment to members of the Ku Klux Klan; $270,000 to a “Unite the Right” member, and more. Evidently, the SPLC – which thrives off of and raises millions of dollars off of its claim that racism is everywhere – was apparently lavishing its proceeds on extremist organizations to gin up racism.
Then there are the questions about the mighty strange fundraising practices utilized by ActBlue, which has become a financial engine for Democrat/Socialist candidates. The leader of ActBlue, Regina Wallace-Jones, called before a congressional committee, invoked the Fifth Amendment, the right not to incriminate oneself, to the point where she just about wore it out. There are real questions about fake donations being made under the names of ordinary Americans who gave $5 here and $10 there, totaling an astonishing amount of money. Ms. Wallace-Jones refused to answer any questions about the flow of foreign money into American elections. The very same people who cooked up and cried about the “Russia-collusion” now aren’t at all worried about campaign cash being pumped into the coffers of Democrat/Socialists from communist China.
ActBlue has raised approximately $19 billion for Democrat/Socialist candidates and far-left-wing groups since its creation in 2004. ActBlue insists it most certainly does not allow or receive donations from “undisclosed sources” or foreign groups, for that matter. But according to the New York Times, ActBlue has been accepting contributions from abroad “even when donor identities cannot be verified.”
ActBlue also claimed it would not accept anonymous monetary gift cards, but there’s reason to believe that, too, was a lie. Iran, China, Russia and every other foreign power with an axe to grind against America very well may be trying to influence our elections. Is it any wonder the “America Last” numbers keep growing?
