Clear Springs Baptist Church Celebrating 125 Years! (Part 1 of 2)

By Ralphine Major

It stands as a beacon of hope along a main thoroughfare. Through the gap going toward Harbison’s Crossroads, Clear Springs Baptist Church sits atop the hill on the right. The huge structure is the first of its kind along that stretch of Tazewell Pike. Amid homes, businesses, and schools, Clear Springs Baptist Church established a presence in the Gibbs Community business district six years ago. On Sunday, September 25, 2022, the church celebrated a milestone—its 125th Anniversary! The day was commemorated with a colorful floral display in the center of the sanctuary and a fascinating video detailing highlights of the church’s history.

Clear Springs Baptist Church has always been a vital part of Corryton’s rural area. Thompson School Road was home to the church for most of its 125 years. The church underwent several renovations until there was no more room to expand to accommodate its growing family of worshipers. The Senior Pastor, Rev. Justin Pratt, continues to proclaim the message of salvation and the love of Jesus each week. The church that has grown from its days in smaller buildings to the bigger, more modern structure of today still shares the same friendly environment and warm spirit from its earlier days. Clear Springs welcomes you to worship with them in person; live streaming online at www.clearspringsbaptist.net; and on WVLR Comcast Cable at 10 a.m. Sunday, 12 p.m. Thursday, and 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Congratulations, Clear Springs Baptist Church on 125 wonderful years! Thank you for sharing the love of Jesus in the community and beyond!

Words of Faith: “Without a doubt our theme verse has been Psalm 118:23,” Rev. Pratt said. The King James Version of that inspiring scripture reads as follows: “This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.”
