Countdown to Christmas

By Ralphine Major

The bright lights of the July 4th fireworks were barely dimming as “Christmas in July” was ramping up.  This midyear event is a visible reminder of how quickly the 2023 calendar year is moving on.  As a youngster, I remember hearing the adults make comments about how fast time flies.  They always added that “before you know it, Christmas will be here.”  But to me, it seemed like Christmas took a long time to arrive.

Many television movie channels are running Christmas-themed movies during July, and some retail stores are advertising Christmas in July sales.  But you may not want to bring out the garland and Christmas ornaments just yet.  Before the official start of the holiday season, there are other important days to consider, such as the start of a new school year, Labor Day holiday, and lots of fall festivals.  Enjoy every moment of every day.  Happy Christmas in July!

Words of Faith: “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7 (KJV).
