They are called Spirit Lifters.  The widows’ ministry of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church is made up of active widows who gather monthly to participate in various activities to love, care, and serve one another.  The group also branches out as uplifters to the homebound widows.

Chelsea Murphy serves as the Wallace Women’s representative for the group. The Spirit Lifters partner with the senior adult ministry of Wallace and are directed by Carolyn Jensen, founder of the group, in a joint effort of ministry.  “It truly was a vision from God that this was so needed for the almost 150 widows in our church,” Carolyn said.  “God has blessed the ministry in a mighty way.  All the glory goes to God.”

Chelsea has a huge heart for serving others!  Her passion for encouragement created an opportunity recently to teach the ladies how to make floral arrangements.  They were able to partner with Powell Florist, a local business that provided a generous donation of beautiful, fresh-cut spring flowers.  Using these colorful flowers, the Spirit Lifters created unique and personal gifts of love which they delivered to the homebound widows.  “This personal touch provided a way to let the homebound know that they are still a special part of the Wallace family of faith,” Chelsea said.  Lifting spirits—a wonderful way to show others the love of Jesus!

Words of Faith: The Spirit Lifters claim as their verse Psalm 62:2 (NIV): “Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will never be shaken.”
