The price to pay for apathy in public affairs (elections) is to be ruled by evil men
(Plato in “The Republic”)
Most know the story of the Trojan horse from Homer’s epic poem, “The Iliad.” I have stood on the site of the ancient city of Troy (Illion) in modern-day Western Turkey, discovered by archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann.
“Historicity” is the concept that real places and real people comprise history rather than being derived from myth, legend or fiction. I felt connected to real history as I stood on the ground where Achilles battled the Trojans three millennia ago.
It is natural for humans to consider their time as being a unique moment in history – that is if they think about history at all. Philosopher George Santayana prophetically said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
Vienna, Austria, is a beautiful city, but the area is also steeped in history. In the opening scenes of the movie “Gladiator,” Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius and his army are battling barbarians on the frontier of the Roman Empire near current-day Vienna. Our modern-day barbarians are not at the city gates of Troy or in the vicinity of Vienna; they are already among us.
The radical socialists/communists have breached the walls of the Democratic Party and have taken over. And by running Democrat Socialists in low-turnout primaries across the country, the radicals are quickly replacing so-called traditional Democrats and are a threat to America. Until the Democratic Party gets its act together, voting for anyone with a D next to their name is voting for the socialist/communists Jacobins who now run their party. UT professor and writer Glenn Reynolds agreed with Plato in a recent opinion piece in the New York Post.
Readers may be surprised, but I have voted for Democrats. However, traditional Democrats no longer exist. And these days, as a conservative, I often have to choose the lesser of two evils: Democrats in name only or RINOs, Republicans in name only.
Though I will not be voting in Maine, an obvious example is the choice between RINO Susan Collins or the socialist/communist and alleged rapist, Democrat Graham Platner. However, the knives are out for Platner, and he will be “replaced” by the Democrat machine, just as they replaced Biden with a woman who never won a primary.
The contrast between Democrats and patriots was profound during the 250th July 4th celebrations. President Trump delivered optimistic and patriotic speeches at Mount Rushmore and in Washington, D.C. Patriots held celebrations nationwide with parades, barbecues and fireworks. Meanwhile, Democrat politicians like Newsom, the Democrat media (NYT), the odious View, as well as the “soon-to-be-out-of-work-from-Artificial-Intelligence” celebrities bashed America and President Trump. Many of these pathetic creatures claimed that they were ashamed to be Americans. To use their own dysfunctional philosophy, since they don’t identify as Americans, they aren’t.
I am proud to be an American. For the foreseeable future, the choice is between radical socialist/communists, who are now The Power in the Democratic Party, and patriotic Americans. The Democratic Party has lost its collective mind to hatred of our duly elected president of the United States. And their disdain for most of us is palpable. Their so-called “autopsy” of the 2024 loss has never been released, and the party has no positive policies for America. Their mantra is “We hate Trump.” At this point, voting for these dysfunctional people will define who and what you are.
While pathetic Democrats were bashing America and patriotism, countries around the world, including Japan, France, and even the British royalty, celebrated our 250th birthday.
After the Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783, ending the Revolutionary War, and the Constitution was ratified in 1788, Europeans and experts dubbed us “the American Experiment.” None thought we would last. But they were wrong. We have endured while many of those countries are gone, and their experts have passed into obscurity.
While our soccer team was defeated by a better team from Belgium, the World Cup in America is a great success. People from all over the world came to the United States and found that they had been told lies about our country and our people by the media. At this point, anyone who trusts anything the media says is a fool.
While our soccer team did not prevail, Americans often dream big and win. They did so in the Revolutionary War against Great Britain, the strongest nation in the world in 1776.
What pathetic losers the American-hating Democrats have become. Some even rooted against the review of one of our principal soccer players’ controversial red card. I’m proud to be an American, and I’m ashamed that these haters are Americans.
Lately, socialism has become the cause célèbre. Even the progressive ideology has morphed into the radical Democratic Socialists. Never mind that socialism has never worked or that the Nazis were the National Socialist Party of WWII Germany. The Democratic Socialists espouse more communist rhetoric than socialist. And never mind that “the goal of socialism is communism” (Vladimir Lenin).
The godless communist Karl Marx said that religion is the “opium of the masses.” Communism is a striking contrast to theism, a belief in God. Theism, specifically Judeo-Christian philosophy, is the foundation of Western Civilization. The eloquence of Thomas Jefferson and the Founders in the first two paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence is far better for humanity and the world than the tripe of Marx’s 1000-word tome, “Das Kapital.” The huddled masses in China, North Korea and Russia understand what too many fools in America do not.
I’m a Christian, a husband, a father and a grandfather. And I’m proud to be an American, as Lee Greenwood sings. It is our duty to oppose the barbarians, the liars, the haters and the deranged. It is not necessary to take up arms as they did in 1776, but we must speak the truth courageously. And boycott if you must, but never give up! They did not give up at Valley Forge or Normandy beaches, and they’re holding the line in the Persian Gulf. Honor their sacrifice with your vote on August 6, 2026. A vote made sacred by their sacrifice.
