They were fun to watch. They had team chemistry, talent, and a spirit for winning. The Tennessee men’s basketball team gave fans a season filled with dribbling, dunks, and dazzling three-point shots. They reached a huge milestone in winning the SEC Tournament. Vol Nation could sense the possibility that this team could go far in the NCAA Tournament in their quest for a national championship. After showing so much promise and the possibility of making history, it was sad to see those hopes dashed so early in their tournament run. The Lady Vols also delighted fans throughout the season. Their defense and offense appeared to be on track to take them to the pinnacle of the NCAA tournament where they have been so many times before. Despite dealing with injuries that sidelined key players, they dribbled their way to the Sweet Sixteen! Sadly, their tournament dreams ended there.

The madness of March brings happiness, hope, and often heartbreak. It ended the hopes of any tournament title for either Tennessee team. Despite all the adversity the two teams had faced, they represented the university with class, heart, and integrity. Some players will now graduate with their college degree. Some will go on to play pro ball. Some will return for another season with their Tennessee team. It is sad to know that both teams have played their last game together. And for a season, it was so much fun to watch them! Thanks—and good luck to all!

Words of Faith: “And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.” Luke 23:33 (KJV).
