Democrats’ Shutdown Hypocrisy
The Democrats have shut down the federal government after decades of having told people what a catastrophe it would be if the government were to be shut down. The Democrats are doing their best to circle the wagons and have their myna birds in the mainstream media deny that they have shut down the government to provide federal dollars for the health care of illegal aliens. Despite what they say, the Democrats shut down the government because they demanded that taxpayers pay for free health care for foreign migrants who have no legal status here. In fact, Des Moines, Iowa evidently hired an illegal immigrant to be the superintendent of its school system.
“You are not going to get us to give into extortion. You are not going to take, as hostage, millions of innocent Americans and succeed in getting us to do something you want, and we don’t and they don’t.” That was a quote from Chuck Schumer in 2013. Other Democrats have said much the same thing and a lot more recently. Senator Patty Murray of Washington said, “A shutdown solves nothing, but hurts everyone.” Really? Wow.
It is quite similar to the cries from the Democrats and their fellow Leftists in the corporate media about censorship. No, Jimmy Kimmel has no right to be on the air, and perhaps the most interesting thing about all of this gnashing of teeth and squalling is that it comes from people who loved authoritarian censorship for the last decade. People who did not agree with their political positions, who did not worship at the altar of gender identity, agree that minor children had the right to make permanent and life-altering decisions when they can’t smoke, go to an “R” rated movie, or drink alcohol, or that men are women and vice versa. Any speech from a conservative point of view was stifled routinely and frequently. The president of the United States was banned from Twitter. We have NOT entered an era of stunning authoritarian censorship; That began with Barack Obama and spying on members of the press and trying to take Rush Limbaugh off the airwaves and close down Fox News.
Nor was President Trump the only Republican/conservative banned from Twitter. There were quite a few conservative and GOP voices stifled on Twitter. Both Facebook and Twitter deleted thousands of accounts due to their political views or refusal to bow down to Leftist ideology.
The lies and the hypocrisy are stunning, but they do it constantly and with a straight face. They think we are just that stupid, and the only voices they want to hear are their own.
Republican Reagan Day Dinner A Huge Success
Knox County Republicans recently celebrated their first Reagan Day Dinner, which was a success from every standpoint. The large dining room was packed, and speakers included our congressman, Tim Burchett, and Tom Basile from Newsmax. Cameron Sexton, speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives, made an excellent speech while John Rose and Monty Fritts plugged their campaigns for governor, and U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn headlined the event as she made the keynote address. Speaker Sexton made a great point in celebrating Republicanism and reminded Tennessee Republicans that while we might not agree inside primaries, we are of one faith politically and NOT enemies. Speaker Sexton pointed out that the Republican Party must stay together to be able to win general elections.
There are Republicans in Tennessee who are warning that the turnout for the special election to succeed Congressman Mark Green in the Seventh Congressional District is anemic. There are also PACs that are spending heavily, not necessarily to support a candidate as much as to tear down other candidates. The Seventh Congressional District contains a hefty slice of Davidson County, which is as “Blue” as can be. As might be expected, the Democrats running for Congress in the special are well to the Left of the spectrum. The infighting amongst Republicans and the lack of interest might end up helping to elect a Democrat.
Speaker Sexton makes a good point, and too many people have moved here who do not remember just how many Democrats held countywide office in Knox County just twelve short years ago. Too few people remember that the Republican Party was the minority party for 100 years in Tennessee. The Democrats, which were highly factionalized, helped to elect Republicans because of their own infighting.
The Tennessee Republican State Executive Committee should change the rules of the party to require the entire county leadership to assume the same position as the chair, who is required to remain neutral in primary elections. When a party fails to come together after primary elections, it is a sign that it will soon become the minority party.
