Last Monday, several Seymour Volunteer Fire Department members, along with representation from Horner Construction, hosted a walkthrough of the new fire station’s construction. The current projection is that the station is trending towards a completion date just prior to Thanksgiving of this year.
The new fire station is designed for the future- one that will better support the needs of our firefighters today and for many years to come. The new facility will feature:
– Sleeping quarters for personnel
– A dedicated training area
– Administrative offices
– A day room and fitness/recovery area for the firefighters
– Three drive-through bays to improve response readiness and vehicle access
“We still need additional fundraising to reduce construction debt and to furnish the station,” retired Chief John Linsenbigler told The Focus.
The Seymour Volunteer Fire Department encourages the community to attend two scheduled fundraising events and to partner with the volunteer-based department.
On October 9, 2026, the 3rd Annual Sporting Clay event will be held in memory of Dave Foulk. This event honors Dave, a long-time supporter of the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department. If you’d like to join, sponsor the event or sponsor a team, please visit SeymourVFD.com/Dave.
April 24, 2027, is the date of the Annual Gala. This fundraising event features a plated dinner, auction, and live entertainment from Chris Blue. More details will be shared closer to the event.
“We are primarily volunteer based and our ability to operate is dependent on the backing of the community. We don’t operate under a subscription service, or solely through your tax dollars, but instead we operate on the generosity of our businesses, residents, and community partners,” Linsenbigler said. “Consider joining us for one of our events, giving a one-time gift, or setting up a reoccurring contribution.
