Cathedral Concert Series Presents Mozart! An Operatic Feast featuring Amadeus Chamber Ensemble and Brian Salesky

Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus – February 5, 2023

The Amadeus Chamber Ensemble is delighted to announce “Mozart! An Operatic  Feast,” the third concert of its 2022-2023 Season presented by the Cathedral Concert  Series. The program, devoted to operatic works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, will take place on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the Cathedral of the Most Sacred  Heart of Jesus (711 S. Northshore Drive, Knoxville).

Brian Salesky, former Executive and Artistic Director of Knoxville Opera, will conduct the concert featuring beloved favorites and intriguing rarities from 15 Mozart operas. Maestro  Salesky, who made his 1999 Knoxville debut conducting Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the  Tennessee Theatre, produced a unique Mainly Mozart Festival here in 2006.

The quintet of soloists includes Venezuelan soprano Maria Brea (Knoxville debut),

soprano Jacqueline Brecheen (previously heard with the Amadeus Chamber Ensemble),  New York mezzosoprano Kara Cornell (Knoxville debut), tenor Kirk Dougherty

(previously featured in Knoxville Opera productions of Mefistofele, Gianni Schicchi, and  The Impresario), and Minnesota Opera baritone Aaron Keeney (Knoxville debut). The

Ensemble’s concertmaster is internationally renowned violinist Miroslav Hristov who will  play solos in scenes from The Shepherd King and The Abduction from the Seraglio.
