Figures released Friday indicated heavier early voting than usual. The Knox County Election Commission reported a total of 102,196 ballots were cast, 4,099 of those absentee or nursing home votes.

Elections Administrator Chris Davis applauded the many election workers and said the total number of early voters was enough to fill Neyland Stadium. The heaviest turnout at the 11 different locations was at the Downtown West location, followed by Farragut, Karns, New Harvest Park and Clinton Highway.

The general election, which will choose a new Tennessee governor, a U.S. Senate and Congressperson, and state senators and representatives, is Tuesday, November 3. There are also three state and one Knoxville City questions on the ballot.
