Socially Equal Energy Efficient Development (SEEED)
This month, we’re highlighting one of Knoxville’s most innovative nonprofit organizations.
SEEED is the only organization locally that combines workforce development, hands-on experience, and community engagement specifically for young adults who have aged out of traditional youth programs.
They are also the only 501(c)(3) in Knoxville constructing brand-new, energy-efficient homes featuring rooftop solar panels, battery storage, and smart-grid technology — built and sold below market value.
Their mission: providing pathways out of poverty through career readiness training, home ownership, access to resources, and food security.
