The French Broad Preservation Association will host its annual Pickle Fest on Sunday, Sept. 25. Festivities will take place at Riverdale School, located at 7009 Thorn Grove Pike in East Knox County, from noon-5 p.m. with a Pickling Competition sponsored by Green River Picklers as the main event.
Contestants can compete among three contest categories of Cucumbers, Non-Cucumbers and Wild for a chance to win a first place prize of $100 gift card to Three Rivers Market. Second and third place winners will take home $50 and $25 gift cards to the market as well.
Competitors can decorate their display area for a chance to win the People’s Choice Award voted on by festival attendees with a $25 gift card prize to an area restaurant.
Competitors can register on French Broad Preservation Association’s website at www.frenchbroadpres.org now until Sept. 18 for an early entrance fee of $5 per category.
Competitors can also register the day of the festival with a registration fee of $10 per category.
Each category entry will earn the contestant a ticket to be entered in a drawing for a fermentation crock valued at $100 provided by Three Rivers Market.
