Knoxville Force Continues the Rivalry with Chattanooga FC
Saturday Evening, 6-1-13
The Knoxville Force hosted their close-by rivals, the Chattanooga FC, on Saturday evening at Regal Soccer Stadium on the UT-Knoxville campus. Coming in, Chattanooga was first in the Southeast Flight of the NPSL’s South Conference and Knoxville was third. The Conference has expanded significantly since the Knoxville Force was granted a NPSL franchise three years ago. The two teams have split wins over the past two seasons and it is usually a lively, well attended game. Saturday’s attendance was 825 lively soccer fans.
The first half was back and forth between the teams with a number of fouls being made. The teams played to a 0-0 tie at the half.
Ten minutes into the second half rain started falling at Regal Stadium sending fans under the covered areas. The rain let up twenty minutes into the second half and the pace on the field quickened. Each team had several shots on goal and several fouls. The game ended in a 0-0 tie. The Knoxville Force will play the Gulf Coast Texans next Saturday at 7:30 in Regal Stadium.
