Nick McBride will seek a second term as Knox County’s Register of Deeds in 2022.

He officially kicked off his re-election campaign Tuesday night at an event in West Knoxville.

McBride greeted and addressed supporters and well-wishers at a gathering at the Rothchild Catering and Conference Center.

Among those who came to show support for McBride, who has been in the Register of Deeds office for three decades, included former Registers of Deeds Sherry Witt and Steve Hall, McBride’s parents and family, former Knox County Law Director Bud Armstrong and Knox County Property Assessor John Whitehead.

“We’ve got a good crowd,” McBride said. “Some are coming just to drop by to wish me well and drop off a check.”

He briefly addressed his supporters Tuesday night.

“I will make the Knox County Register of Deeds office the best in the state of Tennessee,” said McBride, who is the president of the East Tennessee Registers’ Association and has been nominated to be the state’s Register of Deeds. “I want to thank my family for allowing me to run.

“My parents are over there in the corner, and they’ve always supported me, they’ve been my biggest supporters.”

Serving Knox County has been a labor that he relishes and enjoys.

“It’s been an honor to serve the citizens of Knox County,” he said. “I’ve been in the City-County Building for 30 years and I look forward to many more years to come.”

McBride noted that his three decades of public service will be a benefit for Knox County.

“I was Sherry Witt’s chief deputy for 12 years and I worked for Steve Hall,” McBride said.

McBride pointed out his good working relationship with title attorneys and said that his customer service skills are a plus.

He also noted that he was grateful for those who work with him on a daily basis.

“I have a great staff because there’s no turnover,” he said. “I’ve been fortunate to have a wonderful staff and great colleagues and I’ve built 30 years of relationships.”
