Concord Christian’s honorees reflect ‘Portrait of an Athlete’
By Steve Williams
This year’s Lion Award at Concord Christian School was presented to Christopher Rector and Esther Pattison as they both best exemplified the athletic department’s “Portrait of an Athlete” during their time at CCS.
The characteristics of a Portrait of an Athlete consist of commitment, discipline, enthusiasm, humility, integrity, perseverance, respect, service, and teamwork. Concord Athletics believes these characteristics are universal for success and rooted in biblical truth.
Pattison played four years of golf and three years of basketball at Concord Christian and is attending Watkins College of Art at Belmont University to study Graphic Design. She also was a member of the Student Government Association, Spanish Honors Society and co-Vice President of the National Honor Society at CCS.
Rector competed four years in varsity swim and was the Lions’ swim team captain. He earned NISCA All-American and TISCA All-State honors and was a KISL City Champion plus holds three school records in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.
Christopher also was a CCS Scholar Athlete Award winner and received the 2025 Heart of a Lion Award. He was the student body president and in the National Honor Society and Key Club plus the Salutatorian of his class.
Rector recently announced his commitment to continue his swim career at the University of Evansville while planning to major in political science.
