Advance Knox, the comprehensive planning process that will guide future land use and transportation decisions in Knox County, completed the first of three rounds of public engagement earlier this spring. All activities from those events were then made available online for several weeks. Between March 27 and May 12, the project team heard from more than 400 people. A summary of that input is now available at advanceknox.org.

This first round of input provides an initial picture of the community’s views about the future of the county and is now helping to inform the scenario planning stage of the planning process. The project team is currently analyzing data to help illustrate possible strategies for guiding the county’s future growth. This work will be presented at the second round of public input this fall.

Though Knox County has experienced significant growth, the Comprehensive Plan hasn’t been updated in nearly 20 years. Advance Knox is a unique opportunity to align land use and transportation goals and create a fiscally responsible blueprint to help guide decisions about where and how future growth and infrastructure investments will occur.
