The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, along with lead sponsor Alcoa Foundation, will host Hiring Our Heroes – Knoxville, a hiring fair for veterans and military spouses.

 

Recruiters from more than 50 companies and service organizations have pre-registered with jobs available for veterans and military spouses of all ranks and levels of experience.

 

The event will include a free employment workshop led by the Military Officers Association of America at 8:30 a.m. “Marketing Yourself for a Second Career” will focus on resume writing, interview skills, and job search techniques for service members preparing to leave the military. One-on-one resume review will be available at no cost throughout the day.

This hiring event is being conducted with the Greater Knoxville Chamber, the Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), the Tennessee Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, The American Legion, and other local partners.

 

Since Hiring Our Heroes began in March 2011, more than 1,500 companies have hired 27,200 veterans and military spouses as a result of 900 hiring events. In March 2012, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Capital One launched Hiring 500,000 Heroes, a national campaign to engage the business community in committing to hire half a million veterans and military spouses by the end of 2014. This milestone was achieved in June 2015 when more than 500,000 veteran and military spouse hires were confirmed.
