LWVKKC to host forums in advance of primary election

Knoxville, Tenn.— To enable voters to hear the candidates respond to questions about important issues in the March 5, 2024, primary election, the League of Women Voters of Knoxville and Knox County is sponsoring several candidate forums with its partners. The public is invited.

The following forums have been scheduled, and all candidates have been invited.

  • January 30, 6:30–8 p.m., Knox County Board of Education. Lennon-Seney United Methodist Church, 2084 Dandridge Av. 37915
  • February 8, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Knox County Law Director. Messiah Lutheran Church 6900 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919
  • February 13, 6:30–8 p.m., Knox County Commission Districts 4, 5, 9.  Messiah Lutheran Church, 6900 Kingston Pike, 37919

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that encourages informed and active participation in government and works to increase understanding of major public policy issues.  Candidate forums sponsored by the League honor the League’s longstanding nonpartisan practices to ensure trust, respect, and fairness to all who participate. We use a standard set of guidelines for candidates, moderators, volunteers, and the audience.

The following organizations are partnering with the LWVKKC: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Mu Lambda Chapter; American Muslim Advisory Council; East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists; Institute of American Civics of The Baker School of Public Policy and Public Affairs; Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Knoxville Area Urban League; Knoxville Branch of the NAACP; Knoxville News Sentinel; and the Voter Turnout Coalition.
